In its commitment to strengthening marriages during the tough times that confront all couples, the Commonwealth Government legislated that celebrants must provide all couples with a leaflet entitled “happily ever…..before and after”, together with specific information on Relationship Education services.

 

The Government encourages couples to consider pre (or post) marriage education, but there is no compulsion. Just as we accept the benefits of parenting courses, or improved car licence training and testing, so we need to recognise the benefits of relationship education. Building on strong foundations is a great way to help couples handle the tough patches of life. An awareness of the available resources can be helpful when pressures start to build.

 

Marriage is a wonderful institution but like everything else it requires commitment, maintenance and occasionally a touch of surgery. And there is no substitute for good honest and open communication. Some of the more prominent Victorian providers of courses and/or advice are:
